Munich Displaced ONLINE. Jewish Displaced Persons in Munich 1945–1951
In the immediate post-war period, Munich became a stopover point for tens of thousands of displaced persons―people who had fled, had been deported or driven out of their native countries in the course of World War II. Among these was the group of Jewish displaced persons who called themselves “The surviving remnant”, Sh'erit ha-Pletah in Hebrew.
The online exhibition “Munich Displaced ONLINE. Jewish Displaced Persons in Munich 1945–1951” explores Munich’s urban space in the post-war period from the perspective of the Jewish DPs and tells of their experiences.

Exhibition project Munich Displaced
In two parallel exhibitions held at the Jewish Museum Munich and the Münchner Stadtmuseum in 2023/24, the experiences and stories of DPs from a wide range of backgrounds were placed in a local historical context.
