Trade and business index card for Ernst Shmuel Abeles
Ernst Shmuel Abeles, born in 1885 in Chyše in West Bohemia, came to Munich with his parents and siblings at the age of six. He later ran a wholesale business for oil paintings at Geroldsstrasse. In addition, together with his brothers, he was a partner in a cigarette and tobacco factory at Lindwurmstrasse. The proprietors of the Abeles Company were the subject of a hate campaign in the publication ”Der Stürmer“ in 1938. The company was subsequently dissolved. Together with his wife and daughter, Ernst Abeles was deported to Kaunas in Lithuania in 1941 where they were murdered.
