Maximilianstrasse 26: Münchner Kammerspiele
Coming under the Cultural Office of the Central Committee, the “Musikalischer Jidischer Klajnkunst Teater” evolved into the “Münchner Jüdische Theater” [Munich Jewish Theatre] (MIT). It became the most important ensemble within the Jewish post-war community. The MIT toured DP camps until 1949 and also performed regularly at the Münchner Kammerspiele and other prominent venues in the city from fall 1946. In addition to cabaret revues, the troupe performed a total of nine different plays, including Yiddish classics such as “Tevye the Dairyman” by Sholem Aleichem.
