On September 6, 2017, the Free State of Bavaria inaugurated the memorial to the 1972 Munich Massacre in the Olympic Park. The Jewish Museum Munich provided support in the historical aspects of the project; the City of Munich supported it financially. The memorial site to dedicated to the victims of the terrorist attack at the 20th Summer Olympics – eleven Israeli athletes and one German policeman.
In addition to a presentation of the victims’ individual biographies, the course of the massacre is related using contemporary film sequences. The political dimension of the Olympic Games is also highlighted in...
